New York Giants

The Giants robbed the room for James. Final grade: B+.

Somewhere a general manager is explaining how DJ James got past him. The Giants do not have to explain a thing at pick 107. They moved the roster forward and banked a B+ for it.

Leaving offensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Job largely done: interior defensive lineman settled and 5 of 9 of the wish list covered.

Stockpiling next year's capital is patient, if unglamorous, asset work. The skill positions did well by the weekend.

Good work on the whole, with offensive lineman the one box left unchecked.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.6 · Pick 6 · Malik Nabers · WR · rank 3
In pick No. 6 they get a difference-maker at receiver. The biggest hole, addressed.
R2.15 · Pick 47 · T'Vondre Sweat · DT · rank 45
T'Vondre Sweat in the Round 2 slot is fair value, right on his grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R3.6 · Pick 70 · Javon Bullard · S · rank 42
Javon Bullard at Round 3, Pick 6 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R4.7 · Pick 107 · DJ James · CB · rank 53
DJ James in No. 107 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It fills a real need, too.
R5.5 · Pick 141 · Will Shipley · RB · rank 107
Circle this one: Will Shipley at slot 141 is a fall that decides a draft. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
