Every swap seemed to tilt away from the Vikings, and the value they bled adds up to real damage. The math is unkind, and the D follows.
The whole projection now runs through Drake Maye; hit there and everything else looks smarter. They banked enough surplus on Proctor to cover a lot of smaller sins.
Job largely done: quarterback settled and 8 of 8 of the wish list covered. The offense got the lion's share of the attention.
In the end, a class the front office will want to grow past quickly.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 3 they get a long-term answer under center. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Chop Robinson in the Round 2 slot is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Payton Wilson in pick 68 lands just on the right side of the ledger. A minor itch, scratched.
Jalen McMillan in Round 4, Pick 4 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They did well to land Khyree Jackson in the 109th overall pick, just ahead of his grade. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
DJ James in No. 130 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Malik Washington at slot 136 is money in the bank, a wide receiver taken below his worth. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A straight-up fair deal on Ben Sinnott at the 145th pick, value and slot in agreement. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Logan Lee in No. 157 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The roster fit checks out.
Sincere Haynesworth at the Round 5 slot nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A slide stopped in the 179th pick, with Jaylen Wright worth more than the price. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Taking Josh Proctor in pick No. 227 is close to grand larceny; a safety that good had no business lasting this long. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
