Nobody else had Javon Foster anywhere near No. 95. The Chiefs did, by 24 spots, and that gap is the whole story. A weekend of give and take that grades a C+.
Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. A small leak at the table, if not a fatal one.
Hit on Kool-Aid McKinstry and the swing picks, and this ages a lot better than it grades today.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 32 they get a sticky cover corner, outstanding value to boot. Need was not the driver here.
They liked Xavier Worthy enough to skip the value, taking him in No. 40. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Javon Foster at slot 95 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Mohamed Kamara in the 132nd pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Grayson Murphy. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Jared Wiley slipping to the Round 5 slot is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A straight-up fair deal on Jalen Coker at No. 252, value and slot in agreement. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
