You can draft well and still miss the point. The Packers did plenty of tidy work and somehow never got around to edge rusher, which was the need that mattered most.
If one pick saves this weekend, it is Bullard. They went 4 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 25 they get a sticky cover corner at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
A tidy little value on Jordan Morgan in the 41st pick, a step better than break-even. A need, and now a little less of one.
A slide stopped in Round 2, Pick 26, with Javon Bullard worth more than the price. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Trey Benson at the 88th overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They paid sticker price for Christian Mahogany in slot 91, and that is fine. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A straight-up fair deal on Ben Sinnott at the Round 4 slot, value and slot in agreement. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A market-rate safety, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Malik Mustapha. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Jaylan Ford at No. 202 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A minor itch, scratched.
Caedan Wallace at pick 219 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
