When the story of this class is written, it opens with Arik Gilbert at pick 240, a reach of 27 spots that the board flatly disagrees with. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.
Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. That Neyor pick is the receipt they will wave around later.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 19 they get a cornerstone up front at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Nothing to complain about; Chris Braswell went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A tidy little value on Denzel Burke in Round 2, Pick 19, a step better than break-even. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They did well to land Payton Wilson in pick 83, just ahead of his grade. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Braelon Allen at the 92nd overall pick is a conviction pick that outran the value. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Jahdae Barron in No. 119 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Kamal Hadden in the Round 4 slot is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Bryce Foster at pick No. 197 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They read the board right and Isaiah Neyor was the payoff at Round 6, Pick 42. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A premium they did not need to pay, Miles Frazier a notch or two before his time. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They reached into another round for Arik Gilbert, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
