Give the war room a raise for the dealing alone. The Patriots came out ahead on every exchange that mattered, and it was not close. More right than wrong, and a B+ to match.
That Marshall Jr. pick is the receipt they will wave around later. For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a difference-maker at receiver. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
The board had cheaper options than JT Tuimoloau at No. 38, and it noticed. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They read the board right and Cameron Williams was the payoff at Round 3, Pick 13. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Fair-plus on Cam Skattebo, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It fills a real need, too.
Jeffrey Bassa at pick 122 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Mitchell Evans in the 144th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Jason Marshall Jr. at the 220th overall pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Jordan Hancock at Round 7, Pick 13 is the proof. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They paid sticker price for LaJohntay Wester in slot 238, and that is fine. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
