The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Chiefs watched Davison Igbinosun slide 29 picks past his grade and did not hesitate.
Spending an early pick on cornerback with quarterback and edge rusher open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 9 they get a green-dot type in the middle at fair value. A real need, handled.
In pick 29 they get an island corner at a price that makes it sweeter.
The board had Peter Woods higher than the 40th overall pick, and the interior defensive lineman fell to them anyway. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Eli Stowers at the Round 3 slot is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They bypassed pressing needs at quarterback and edge rusher to take Davison Igbinosun, a cornerback that was not the priority.
Jakobe Thomas is a better player than slot 148 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Kage Casey at the 169th pick. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A slide stopped in pick No. 176, with Kevin Coleman Jr. worth more than the price. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Le'Veon Moss at Round 6, Pick 29 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
