This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Keon Coleman, the No. 36 name on the board, stolen at the Round 3 slot. The bottom line is a respectable B+.
The phones were where this weekend was really won. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through interior defensive lineman.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 5 they get a long-term starter on the line. A clean fit for the roster.
A reach for J.J. McCarthy in pick 34; a little patience would have been rewarded. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Xavier Worthy in the 50th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Kingsley Suamataia at No. 68 is money in the bank, a offensive lineman taken below his worth. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They will replay Keon Coleman at slot 97 for years; that is how good the value is. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Will Shipley. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Braelon Allen at the Round 4 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It fills a real need, too.
They read the board right and Mohamed Kamara was the payoff at the 139th pick. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Tykee Smith at slot 179 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Circle this one: Myles Harden at pick No. 210 is a fall that decides a draft. A minor need, but a need all the same.
A wide receiver of that caliber at the 231st overall pick is the definition of value, full stop. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
