The Packers looked at the value chart, folded it up, and took Zane Durant at the Round 5 slot regardless, 31 picks early. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.
On value alone, Raridon makes the weekend a net positive. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it. Cornerback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
D'Angelo Ponds at the Round 2 slot nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They let Keylan Rutledge come to them and pounced at Round 3, Pick 20. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They went early on Harold Perkins Jr. in slot 120, and the value did not follow. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Zane Durant well ahead of where he belonged. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Somehow Eli Raridon was still sitting there in No. 160, and they pounced on premier tight end value. A need, and now a little less of one.
TJ Hall at pick No. 201 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Nice patience on Tyren Montgomery, who had no business lasting to pick No. 236. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Andre Fuller at pick 255 is the proof. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
