The Packers ran the phones like sharks, prying loose value on deal after deal until the ledger was lopsided.
They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. That is a safety worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. The Cephus pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 25 they get protection for the quarterback. A clean fit for the roster.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Edgerrin Cooper in pick 63. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
No drama and no debate, Michael Hall Jr. went about where he belonged in the 88th pick. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Zak Zinter in the Round 3 slot is fair value, right on his grade. It fills a real need, too.
Renardo Green slipping to slot 168 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
They liked Eric Watts enough to skip the value, taking him in Round 6, Pick 10. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Isaiah Davis at No. 203 is the proof. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Josh Wallace in the 216th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A reach for Joshua Cephus in the 243rd pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A slide stopped in the Round 7 slot, with Blake Watson worth more than the price. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
