The tape said wait; the Packers did not. Hayden Hatten went at the 246th pick, a good 55 picks before the board was ready. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.

Getting Smith-Wade where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. That tight end hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

On the needs board they went 7 of 8, with edge rusher the one that mattered most.

Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
