You could see the war room lean forward. Deontae Lawson at pick 250 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.
The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. A small leak at the table, if not a fatal one.
Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. Stockpiling next year's capital is patient, if unglamorous, asset work.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 24 they get a potential shutdown corner at a price that makes it sweeter. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
They robbed the room for Wyatt Milum here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. The roster fit checks out.
The board fumbled Aireontae Ersery all the way to the 126th overall pick, and they scooped it up. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Taking Walter Nolen in slot 152 is close to grand larceny; an interior defensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. It fills a real need, too.
Steal is underselling it; Josaiah Stewart at pick No. 159 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Dylan Fairchild at Round 6, Pick 24 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Logan Brown in No. 208 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Circle this one: Kyle Kennard at the Round 7 slot is a fall that decides a draft. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They will replay Deontae Lawson at the Round 7 slot for years; that is how good the value is. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
