The Packers looked at the value chart, folded it up, and took Akheem Mesidor at the Round 7 slot regardless, 92 picks early.
However the rest shakes out, King at that price is a win they earned. They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
They left with edge rusher solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a potential shutdown corner at a price that makes it sweeter. Exactly the need they had to hit.
A top-tier linebacker at a bargain, Jalon Walker in slot 54, plain and simple. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
The board had cheaper options than Savion Williams at pick No. 87, and it noticed. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Mello Dotson. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Joshua Gray at the 158th pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
You do not let a linebacker like Kobe King reach the 196th overall pick and blink. They did not. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Jamaree Caldwell well ahead of where he belonged. A need, and now a little less of one.
They reached into another round for Akheem Mesidor, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
