Thirty-one other rooms let Jake Golday slide, and the Packers were the ones holding the card at the Round 4 slot. Highway robbery. More right than wrong, and a B to match.
Coogan has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
Job largely done: edge rusher settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
Lee Hunter is a better player than pick No. 62 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Mike Washington Jr. at Round 3, Pick 23 is money in the bank, a running back taken below his worth. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A straight-up fair deal on Julian Neal at the Round 4 slot, value and slot in agreement. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They barely believed it either: Jake Golday still on the board at slot 121. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Daylen Everette in No. 130 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Pat Coogan well ahead of where he belonged. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A tidy little value on Tim Keenan III in the 160th pick, a step better than break-even. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Somehow Bryce Boettcher was still sitting there in the 201st overall pick, and they pounced on premier linebacker value. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Andre Fuller at the 236th overall pick is a conviction pick that outran the value. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Nolan Rucci at slot 255 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It fills a real need, too.
