The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Packers reached some 50 spots for Bryce Foster, and value like that does not grow back. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.
The Davis steal is the beam this whole class leans on. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback. Job largely done: edge rusher settled and 4 of 8 of the wish list covered.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick-by-Pick
A straight-up fair deal on Christen Miller at the 52nd pick, value and slot in agreement. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Caden Curry in No. 84, miles early. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They took Julian Neal at par in pick No. 120, which is nothing to complain about. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
J.C. Davis in the Round 5 slot is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Value said wait; Bryce Foster in the 201st overall pick says they were not listening. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They read the board right and Thaddeus Dixon was the payoff at pick 236. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Deven Eastern at No. 255 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
