Some picks age like wine; Brandon Cleveland at the 236th pick will need to, sitting 84 spots clear of his grade. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.
On value alone, Golday makes the weekend a net positive. A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want.
They left with edge rusher solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
Caleb Banks is a better player than No. 52 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Jake Golday in the Round 3 slot is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Julian Neal. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A big swing on Pat Coogan at pick 160, well ahead of any board in the building. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
The board had Keagen Trost higher than slot 201, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. It fills a real need, too.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Brandon Cleveland this early at Round 7, Pick 20. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Cameron Ball in slot 255, miles early. A need, and now a little less of one.
