Nobody had Deven Eastern this high, and it is not close. The Packers reached 25 spots to get him at slot 255. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher. Banks falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. Job largely done: cornerback settled and 4 of 8 of the wish list covered.
Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
They read the board right and Caleb Banks was the payoff at the Round 2 slot. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Good price on Davison Igbinosun in slot 84, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
By-the-book stuff, Julian Neal at pick 120 squarely in line with his ranking. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Kage Casey at pick No. 160 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A wild overpay on Kaelon Black in the 201st pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
The board had cheaper options than Bryce Foster at Round 7, Pick 20, and it noticed. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Deven Eastern well ahead of where he belonged. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
