Call it a hunch or call it a gamble, but the Packers spent No. 160 on Pat Coogan, a name most had 40 spots down the list.
The Kitselman pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
Keith Abney II is a better player than pick 52 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A top-tier interior defensive lineman at a bargain, Christen Miller in Round 3, Pick 20, plain and simple. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for J.C. Davis. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pat Coogan at the Round 5 slot is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
No drama and no debate, Aaron Graves went about where he belonged in the 201st overall pick. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Andre Fuller in slot 236 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Taking Miles Kitselman in the 255th overall pick is close to grand larceny; a tight end that good had no business lasting this long. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
