The Packers did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Malachi Fields fell into the Round 4 slot.
The Neal pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
A modest surplus at the table, banked quietly.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
Lee Hunter at the Round 2 slot is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the interior defensive lineman. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They reached a country mile for Julian Neal at the 87th pick, and the board is aghast. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Malachi Fields in pick 120 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Jack Endries at slot 121 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
J.C. Davis at the 123rd overall pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Kaytron Allen in pick No. 130 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
The board had Jaeden Roberts higher than No. 160, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A straight-up fair deal on Bobby Jamison-Travis at Round 6, Pick 20, value and slot in agreement. It fills a real need, too.
Andre Fuller at pick 236 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A reach for Connor Tollison in pick No. 255; a little patience would have been rewarded. A need, and now a little less of one.
