Green Bay Packers

The Packers won the night they stopped Orange from sliding. Grade: B-.

The one they had to fix is still broken. The Packers left edge rusher untouched, and that omission hangs over an otherwise reasonable haul. No fireworks, but a solid B-.

That is an interior defensive lineman worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. They left with cornerback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. They trusted the board more than the depth chart.

A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.

Pick-by-Pick

R2.20 · Pick 52 · D'Angelo Ponds · CB · rank 48
Fair-plus on D'Angelo Ponds, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R3.27 · Pick 91 · Domonique Orange · DT · rank 73
Domonique Orange at No. 91 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R4.20 · Pick 120 · Julian Neal · CB · rank 119
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Julian Neal. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R4.26 · Pick 126 · Trey Zuhn III · C · rank 127
Trey Zuhn III in pick No. 126 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R5.13 · Pick 153 · Kaytron Allen · RB · rank 149
A tidy little value on Kaytron Allen in the 153rd overall pick, a step better than break-even. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R5.20 · Pick 160 · Chris McClellan · DT · rank 143
Chris McClellan at the 160th pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R6.1 · Pick 182 · Caleb Douglas · WR · rank 167
Nice patience on Caleb Douglas, who had no business lasting to pick 182. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R6.20 · Pick 201 · Jeff Caldwell · WR · rank 193
A slide stopped in the Round 6 slot, with Jeff Caldwell worth more than the price. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R7.20 · Pick 236 · Latrell McCutchin Sr. · CB · rank 232
They did well to land Latrell McCutchin Sr. in Round 7, Pick 20, just ahead of his grade. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R7.39 · Pick 255 · Bryce Foster · C · rank 262
They paid sticker price for Bryce Foster in slot 255, and that is fine. It fills a real need, too.
