There is conviction, and then there is this. The Packers took Omar Brown a full 65 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.
The Greenfield value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 25 they get a cornerstone up front, outstanding value to boot. A clean fit for the roster.
In No. 28 they get an island corner. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Somehow Kamren Kinchens was still sitting there in slot 88, and they pounced on premier safety value. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
They paid a round early for Braelon Allen in the Round 3 slot, more than the board wanted. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Ty'Ron Hopper. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Kitan Oladapo at the 169th overall pick is the proof. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
Donovan Jennings at pick 202 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. The roster fit checks out.
They talked themselves into Omar Brown at slot 219, and the board did not agree. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Garret Greenfield in the 245th overall pick, plain and simple. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Jowon Briggs at the 255th pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
