The Packers looked at the value chart, folded it up, and took Taulia Tagovailoa at pick 245 regardless, 45 picks early.
If one pick saves this weekend, it is Gould. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped tight end, which is a strange place to end up. Job largely done: edge rusher settled and 6 of 8 of the wish list covered.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 25 they get a lockdown presence outside at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Edgerrin Cooper at pick No. 47 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Kingsley Suamataia. A need, and now a little less of one.
They robbed the room for Bucky Irving here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Blake Fisher in Round 5, Pick 1 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It fills a real need, too.
Grayson Murphy at the 141st pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They will replay Anthony Gould at the 183rd overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They took Julian Pearl at par in slot 202, which is nothing to complain about. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They barely believed it either: Steele Chambers still on the board at the Round 6 slot. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Taulia Tagovailoa at pick 245 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A top-tier linebacker at a bargain, Tatum Bethune in No. 255, plain and simple. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
