You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Packers did exactly that with Braelon Allen in pick No. 126. They moved the roster forward and banked a B+ for it.
They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. The Green pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged.
The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 25 they get an anchor for the offensive line. A real need, handled.
They paid a round early for Payton Wilson in No. 54, more than the board wanted. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Braelon Allen in the 126th overall pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A real head-scratcher, Logan Lee in the 127th pick is miles ahead of his ranking. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Jordan Jefferson in pick 162 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Jalen Green is a better player than slot 243 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A minor itch, scratched.
A straight-up fair deal on Trevor Keegan at pick 251, value and slot in agreement. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Daequan Hardy slid further than he should have, and slot 255 is lovely value for the cornerback. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
