Green Bay Packers

The phones sank the Packers this weekend: D-.

Call it a hunch or call it a gamble, but the Packers spent No. 199 on Fentrell Cypress II, a name most had 83 spots down the list. Too much went sideways, and the D- is the honest tally.

Majors falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere.

The Perkins Jr. pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with edge rusher and quarterback still on the board. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want.

Bottom line, they will be counting on several picks to beat their grades.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.24 · Pick 24 · Benjamin Morrison · CB · rank 47
In pick No. 24 they get a ballhawk on the outside, though the board says they badly overpaid. Exactly the need they had to hit.
R2.24 · Pick 56 · Omarr Norman-Lott · DT · rank 76
Value said wait; Omarr Norman-Lott in the 56th overall pick says they were not listening. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R3.8 · Pick 72 · Jihaad Campbell · LB · rank 40
Steal is underselling it; Jihaad Campbell at the Round 3 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
R3.24 · Pick 88 · Malachi Moore · S · rank 72
A tidy bit of business in pick 88, where Malachi Moore graded well above the range. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
R4.7 · Pick 108 · Harold Perkins Jr. · LB · rank 127
A want over a need in No. 108: Harold Perkins Jr. adds a linebacker while edge rusher and quarterback keeps waiting.
R4.24 · Pick 125 · Quinshon Judkins · RB · rank 73
Quinshon Judkins at the 125th pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R5.22 · Pick 159 · Jake Majors · C · rank 93
They barely believed it either: Jake Majors still on the board at the 159th overall pick. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R6.24 · Pick 199 · Fentrell Cypress II · CB · rank 282
Fentrell Cypress II in pick 199 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R7.25 · Pick 241 · Terrance Ferguson · TE · rank 207
The board fumbled Terrance Ferguson all the way to slot 241, and they scooped it up. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R7.34 · Pick 250 · Jimmy Horn Jr. · WR · rank 286
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Jimmy Horn Jr. well ahead of where he belonged. The roster fit checks out.
