The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Packers watched Jermaine Burton slide 63 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B+.
They are betting Slovis proves the room right and everyone else wrong. The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. Leaving tight end unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
The Michael Gallup pickup adds a known quantity to a class of unknowns.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but tight end.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 25th pick they get a problem off the edge, outstanding value to boot. Exactly the need they had to hit.
T'Vondre Sweat in the Round 2 slot is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A reasonable price with a little left over, T.J. Tampa in the 58th overall pick. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
DJ James at pick No. 87 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They will replay Jaylen Wright at No. 98 for years; that is how good the value is. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They barely believed it either: Dadrion Taylor-Demerson still on the board at slot 105. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
The board had cheaper options than Javon Foster at Round 4, Pick 10, and it noticed. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A wide receiver of that caliber at pick 119 is the definition of value, full stop. The roster fit checks out.
A tidy bit of business in the 126th overall pick, where Matt Goncalves graded well above the range. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Trevor Keegan in pick 169 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Fabien Lovett in No. 195. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.

Kedon Slovis at Round 7, Pick 35 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
