The tape said wait; the Packers did not. Cole Bishop went at the Round 4 slot, a good 25 picks before the board was ready. For now it grades a C+, with the swing picks left to settle the rest.
They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it. Job largely done: edge rusher settled and 4 of 8 of the wish list covered.
If T'Vondre Sweat and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 9th pick they get a pocket-collapsing interior rusher, though the board says they badly overpaid. A real need, handled.
Cooper Beebe in pick 41 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A need, and now a little less of one.
A conviction pick on Cooper DeJean at the Round 2 slot that the board grades a round light. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Good price on Chris Braswell in pick No. 73, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They paid a round early for Payton Wilson in No. 82, more than the board wanted. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Cole Bishop in Round 4, Pick 9 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A minor need, but a need all the same.
They liked Mike Sainristil enough to skip the value, taking him in pick 135. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
