Green Bay Packers

The Packers did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B.

by Kanaworms · 2024 NFL Draft · 11 picks · 2 steals · 5 reaches

There is reaching, and then there is Anim Dankwah at the Round 7 slot. The Packers jumped the board by 22 and dared it to prove them wrong.

If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback. Getting Wallace where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes.

Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.25 · Pick 25 · Quinyon Mitchell · CB · rank 19
In slot 25 they get a sticky cover corner at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
R2.12 · Pick 44 · Kingsley Suamataia · OT · rank 61
Kingsley Suamataia at the Round 2 slot is a conviction pick that outran the value. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R2.26 · Pick 58 · Junior Colson · LB · rank 52
They did well to land Junior Colson in the 58th pick, just ahead of his grade. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
R3.25 · Pick 88 · DeWayne Carter · DT · rank 101
DeWayne Carter in pick 88 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R3.28 · Pick 91 · Jaden Hicks · S · rank 85
Jaden Hicks at No. 91 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A minor itch, scratched.
R4.26 · Pick 126 · Roger Rosengarten · OT · rank 136
They liked Roger Rosengarten enough to skip the value, taking him in pick No. 126. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R5.31 · Pick 167 · Khristian Boyd · DL-EDGE · rank 179
A conviction pick on Khristian Boyd at Round 5, Pick 31 that the board grades a round light. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R6.27 · Pick 202 · Ryan Flournoy · WR · rank 202
No drama and no debate, Ryan Flournoy went about where he belonged in the 202nd overall pick. A need, and now a little less of one.
R6.44 · Pick 219 · Myles Harden · CB · rank 208
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Myles Harden in pick 219. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R7.25 · Pick 245 · Trevin Wallace · LB · rank 233
Trevin Wallace slipping to slot 245 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
R7.35 · Pick 255 · Anim Dankwah · OT · rank 277
They left a pile of value on the table to take Anim Dankwah this early at No. 255. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
