The weekend has a hole in the middle of it named edge rusher, a need the Packers walked right past. The bottom line is a respectable B-.
If one pick saves this weekend, it is Anthony. The Eichenberg pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 25 they get an island corner at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Graham Barton in the 41st overall pick. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Kingsley Suamataia in the Round 2 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
The board had Max Melton higher than pick 88, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They jumped the gun on Braelon Allen, taking him earlier than his grade liked. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They reached into another round for Tommy Eichenberg, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Javion Cohen. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Justin Rogers at No. 202. The roster fit checks out.
Caedan Wallace in pick 219 lands just on the right side of the ledger. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Tyler Owens at the 245th pick is a conviction pick that outran the value. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Nice patience on Daijahn Anthony, who had no business lasting to slot 255. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
