This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Ryan Flournoy, the No. 204 name on the board, stolen at slot 255.
They will need King to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
No edge and no loss on Graham Barton in No. 25; it is a wash and a sensible one. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Value said wait; Kingsley Suamataia in the 41st overall pick says they were not listening. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They let Kamari Lassiter come to them and pounced at slot 58. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Kalen King. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Fair-plus on Dominick Puni, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Sataoa Laumea. It fills a real need, too.
Luke McCaffrey in pick 169 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Jaylan Ford in pick No. 202 is fair value, right on his grade. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Myles Murphy in Round 6, Pick 44 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They reached a country mile for Eyabi Okie-Anoma at slot 245, and the board is aghast. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
You do not let a wide receiver like Ryan Flournoy reach No. 255 and blink. They did not. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
