The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Packers watched Sheridan Jones slide 36 picks past his grade and did not hesitate.
The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Reaching for Bishop left real value on the table behind him.
Job largely done: cornerback settled and 2 of 8 of the wish list covered.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 25 they get a sticky cover corner. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Cooper Beebe at slot 41 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
No edge and no loss on Kingsley Suamataia in the 58th pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Dominick Puni in Round 3, Pick 25 is fair value, right on his grade. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Cole Bishop at the Round 3 slot jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Matt Goncalves at pick 126 is the proof. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Roger Rosengarten in pick No. 169 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They barely believed it either: Ro Torrence still on the board at the 202nd overall pick. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Somehow Trente Jones was still sitting there in slot 219, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. The roster fit checks out.
Nathan Thomas slid further than he should have, and pick No. 245 is lovely value for the offensive lineman. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Sheridan Jones at the 255th overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
