Somebody in the 88th overall pick was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Packers sat still while Xavier Worthy, the No. 55 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. No fireworks, but a solid B-.
They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. They are betting Eichenberg proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 25 they get an anchor for the offensive line. A clean fit for the roster.
A straight-up fair deal on Chris Braswell at the 41st overall pick, value and slot in agreement. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Max Melton at pick No. 58 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Xavier Worthy in the 88th pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. The roster fit checks out.
The board fumbled Patrick Paul all the way to the Round 3 slot, and they scooped it up. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Tommy Eichenberg in Round 4, Pick 26 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Dylan Laube in pick 169. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They took Julian Pearl at par in slot 202, which is nothing to complain about. A need, and now a little less of one.
A tidy little value on Caedan Wallace in pick 219, a step better than break-even. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Nathan Thomas at slot 245. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Circle this one: Frank Gore Jr. at No. 255 is a fall that decides a draft. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
