When the story of this class is written, it opens with Edefuan Ulofoshio at No. 202, a reach of 35 spots that the board flatly disagrees with. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.
On value alone, Jones makes the weekend a net positive. The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Cornerback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 25 they get a sticky cover corner. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Cooper Beebe at Round 2, Pick 9 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The roster fit checks out.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Kingsley Suamataia. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They let Max Melton come to them and pounced at slot 88. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Cole Bishop at the 91st overall pick is a conviction pick that outran the value. A minor itch, scratched.
Sataoa Laumea in the 126th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
The board had Dylan Laube higher than the 169th pick, and the running back fell to them anyway. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Edefuan Ulofoshio in slot 202, miles early. A minor need, but a need all the same.
A top-tier linebacker at a bargain, Steele Chambers in the 219th overall pick, plain and simple. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
Somehow Sheridan Jones was still sitting there in pick 245, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
No edge and no loss on Tyler Owens in Round 7, Pick 35; it is a wash and a sensible one. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
