You can hear the double-takes from here. The Packers took Kalen King at pick No. 91, roughly 48 spots before his name belonged. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.
The Mims pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 25th pick they get a press-man option on the boundary. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Amarius Mims at slot 41. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
The board had cheaper options than Kiran Amegadjie at pick No. 58, and it noticed. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They took Khyree Jackson at par in the Round 3 slot, which is nothing to complain about. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Kalen King at pick 91 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They reached into another round for Sione Vaki, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
A big swing on Tanor Bortolini at pick 169, well ahead of any board in the building. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Curtis Jacobs in No. 202. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Jared Wiley is a better player than the Round 6 slot suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A slide stopped in slot 245, with Edefuan Ulofoshio worth more than the price. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Miyan Williams at the 255th overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
