The war room fell hard for Sataoa Laumea, and it showed at Round 3, Pick 25: 43 picks ahead of a board that had other ideas.
Jones at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback. They left with edge rusher solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 25 they get a lockdown presence outside at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Darius Robinson at No. 41 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Max Melton in slot 58 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They reached a country mile for Sataoa Laumea at Round 3, Pick 25, and the board is aghast. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Dominick Puni in the 91st pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They reached into another round for Tommy Eichenberg, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Hunter Nourzad at pick 169 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It fills a real need, too.
A reach for Sheridan Jones in No. 202; a little patience would have been rewarded. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Steal is underselling it; Trente Jones at slot 219 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Richard Jibunor this early at the Round 7 slot. It does not line up with the team's obvious holes.
Daijahn Anthony at the 255th overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
