It is the swing that defines the weekend: Tommy Eichenberg in Round 3, Pick 28, a good 54 spots before the room expected him. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.
Landing Devonshire that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 25 they get a press-man option on the boundary at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
A wild overpay on Kingsley Suamataia in slot 41, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Cooper Beebe slipping to Round 2, Pick 26 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Khyree Jackson at the Round 3 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Tommy Eichenberg in pick 91 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
You do not let a running back like Braelon Allen reach No. 126 and blink. They did not. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They robbed the room for Mason McCormick here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Myles Cole in pick No. 202 lands just on the right side of the ledger. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
M.J. Devonshire in slot 219 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
No drama and no debate, LaDarius Henderson went about where he belonged in No. 245. The roster fit checks out.
C.J. Hanson at the Round 7 slot jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
