This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Myles Harden, the No. 168 name on the board, stolen at No. 219. The bottom line is a respectable B.
The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Every board in the league had Goncalves lower, and that gap is the story.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 25 they get a quarterback's worst nightmare at a price that makes it sweeter. The biggest hole, addressed.
They read the board right and Graham Barton was the payoff at pick No. 41. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A straight-up fair deal on Kiran Amegadjie at the 58th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Matt Goncalves at Round 3, Pick 25 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A need, and now a little less of one.
Cole Bishop in the 91st pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Audric Estime at the Round 4 slot is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the running back. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Jarrian Jones at No. 169 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A wide receiver of that caliber at pick 202 is the definition of value, full stop. It fills a real need, too.
They will replay Myles Harden at pick No. 219 for years; that is how good the value is. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Somehow Darius Muasau was still sitting there in No. 245, and they pounced on premier linebacker value. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
A top-tier running back at a bargain, Jaden Shirden in the Round 7 slot, plain and simple. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
