Green Bay Packers

Nothing loud, just a tidy B- for the Packers.

You build a draft on nights like this. Nathaniel Watson had no business being available in slot 255, and the Packers did the only sane thing and turned in the card. No fireworks, but a solid B-.

They will need Laumea to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.

The roster is better shaped than it was, with cornerback chief among the fixes.

Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.25 · Pick 25 · Cooper DeJean · CB · rank 27
In No. 25 they get a sticky cover corner at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
R2.9 · Pick 41 · Kingsley Suamataia · OT · rank 61
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Kingsley Suamataia well ahead of where he belonged. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R2.26 · Pick 58 · Kiran Amegadjie · OT · rank 66
A conviction pick on Kiran Amegadjie at Round 2, Pick 26 that the board grades a round light. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R3.25 · Pick 88 · Sataoa Laumea · OT · rank 131
They reached a country mile for Sataoa Laumea at the 88th overall pick, and the board is aghast. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R3.28 · Pick 91 · Braelon Allen · RB · rank 106
The board had cheaper options than Braelon Allen at pick No. 91, and it noticed. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R4.26 · Pick 126 · Tommy Eichenberg · LB · rank 145
This one needs a full-page explanation: Tommy Eichenberg in the Round 4 slot, miles early. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
R5.33 · Pick 169 · Javion Cohen · OG · rank 171
A straight-up fair deal on Javion Cohen at slot 169, value and slot in agreement. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R6.27 · Pick 202 · Sheridan Jones · CB · rank 220
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Sheridan Jones. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R6.44 · Pick 219 · M.J. Devonshire · CB · rank 192
M.J. Devonshire at pick 219 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R7.25 · Pick 245 · Tylan Grable · OT · rank 232
Value with a capital V on Tylan Grable in the 245th pick, a genuine coup. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R7.35 · Pick 255 · Nathaniel Watson · LB · rank 214
Nathaniel Watson in pick 255 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
