You build a draft on nights like this. Joshua Josephs had no business being available in No. 108, and the Packers did the only sane thing and turned in the card. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. It is a bet on later, and a defensible one for a team playing the long game.
Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
R3.20
· Pick 84
· Brandon Cisse
· CB
· rank 36
Brandon Cisse in the 84th pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R4.8
· Pick 108
· Joshua Josephs
· DE-EDGE
· rank 44
Somehow Joshua Josephs was still sitting there in the Round 4 slot, and they pounced on premier edge rusher value. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R4.11
· Pick 111
· Jake Slaughter
· C
· rank 55
Circle this one: Jake Slaughter at pick No. 111 is a fall that decides a draft. The roster fit checks out.
R4.20
· Pick 120
· Mike Washington Jr.
· RB
· rank 75
They will replay Mike Washington Jr. at slot 120 for years; that is how good the value is. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R5.20
· Pick 160
· CJ Daniels
· WR
· rank 143
CJ Daniels in No. 160 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R5.23
· Pick 163
· Jaeden Roberts
· OG
· rank 150
Value with a capital V on Jaeden Roberts in pick 163, a genuine coup. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R6.15
· Pick 196
· Ar'maj Reed-Adams
· OG
· rank 171
They barely believed it either: Ar'maj Reed-Adams still on the board at Round 6, Pick 15. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R6.20
· Pick 201
· Aamil Wagner
· OT
· rank 173
Aamil Wagner at the 201st overall pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A need, and now a little less of one.
R7.20
· Pick 236
· Thaddeus Dixon
· CB
· rank 220
They let Thaddeus Dixon come to them and pounced at pick 236. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R7.39
· Pick 255
· Chase Roberts
· WR
· rank 213
You do not let a wide receiver like Chase Roberts reach No. 255 and blink. They did not. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
