Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Jadarian Price got past him. The Packers do not have to explain a thing at Round 5, Pick 17. No fireworks, but a solid B+.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. They will need Pavia to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. They left with cornerback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
The dealing nudged the ledger their way without much fuss.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
Chris Johnson at slot 63 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Olaivavega Ioane in the 84th pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Lee Hunter at the Round 4 slot is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It fills a real need, too.
They robbed the room for D'Angelo Ponds here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Caleb Tiernan in No. 126, plain and simple. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Jadarian Price in pick No. 157 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They let Isaiah World come to them and pounced at the 160th overall pick. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They barely believed it either: Febechi Nwaiwu still on the board at pick 207. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A conviction pick on Diego Pavia at the 220th pick that the board grades a round light. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
The board fumbled Domani Jackson all the way to No. 232, and they scooped it up. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They will replay TJ Hall at slot 236 for years; that is how good the value is. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They read the board right and Trey Zuhn III was the payoff at the 255th overall pick. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
