When a board-topper like Cam Skattebo slides to the 250th overall pick, you do not overthink it, and the Packers did not. Some smart calls, some head-scratchers, and a C- in the wash.
The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Alexander has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.
On the needs board they went 6 of 8, with cornerback the one that mattered most.
Hit on Luther Burden III and the swing picks, and this ages a lot better than it grades today.

They took Luther Burden III at par in pick 16, which is nothing to complain about. A need, and now a little less of one.
Zy Alexander at the 54th pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
You do not let an interior defensive lineman like Alfred Collins reach pick No. 87 and blink. They did not. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Circle this one: Danny Stutsman at the 122nd overall pick is a fall that decides a draft. It adds depth where they could use a little.
A top-tier running back at a bargain, TreVeyon Henderson in Round 5, Pick 21, plain and simple. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Mason Taylor in No. 196 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They will replay Jonah Monheim at slot 237 for years; that is how good the value is. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They robbed the room for Cam Skattebo here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
