Somehow the biggest item on the list survived the weekend. The Packers never addressed edge rusher, and it is the kind of gap that lingers.
The Nubin pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. They went 3 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 25 they get a blindside protector. A clean fit for the roster.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Graham Barton in No. 41. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Tyler Nubin at pick No. 58 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
By-the-book stuff, Trey Benson at pick 88 squarely in line with his ranking. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Max Melton slipping to the Round 3 slot is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Elijah Jones at slot 126 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
