Green Bay Packers

More right than wrong for the Packers, and a B- to prove it.

There is a lot to like until you notice tight end is still a hole. The Packers never got to the one that mattered most.

That Flournoy pick is the receipt they will wave around later. Reaching for Jones left real value on the table behind him.

On the needs board they went 6 of 8, with edge rusher the one that mattered most. The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.

A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.25 · Pick 25 · Cooper DeJean · CB · rank 26
In pick No. 25 they get a sticky cover corner. Exactly the need they had to hit.
R2.9 · Pick 41 · Edgerrin Cooper · LB · rank 49
A reach on Edgerrin Cooper in the Round 2 slot; the board had better options right there. A minor itch, scratched.
R2.26 · Pick 58 · Jaylen Wright · RB · rank 71
Jaylen Wright in pick 58 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R3.25 · Pick 88 · Dadrion Taylor-Demerson · S · rank 86
No drama and no debate, Dadrion Taylor-Demerson went about where he belonged in No. 88. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
R3.28 · Pick 91 · Dominick Puni · OT · rank 89
They took Dominick Puni at par in Round 3, Pick 28, which is nothing to complain about. A need, and now a little less of one.
R4.26 · Pick 126 · Elijah Jones · CB · rank 115
Nice patience on Elijah Jones, who had no business lasting to the 126th overall pick. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R5.33 · Pick 169 · Khristian Boyd · DL-EDGE · rank 178
A reach for Khristian Boyd in slot 169; a little patience would have been rewarded. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R6.27 · Pick 202 · Joe Milton III · QB · rank 200
By-the-book stuff, Joe Milton III at the 202nd pick squarely in line with his ranking. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R6.44 · Pick 219 · Ryan Flournoy · WR · rank 203
Ryan Flournoy slipping to the Round 6 slot is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R7.25 · Pick 245 · Trevin Wallace · LB · rank 233
Trevin Wallace at pick No. 245 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
R7.35 · Pick 255 · Matthew Jones · OG · rank 271
The board had cheaper options than Matthew Jones at pick 255, and it noticed. The roster fit checks out.
