Green Bay Packers

The Packers bled value on every deal, hence the D.

You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Packers did exactly that with Devin Culp in Round 6, Pick 44. A D that will need time and luck to look better.

They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher. That Haynes pick is the receipt they will wave around later.

It is a steep hill from here, and the grade knows it.

Pick-by-Pick

R2.1 · Pick 33 · Brian Thomas Jr. · WR · rank 27
Brian Thomas Jr. at No. 33 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A need, and now a little less of one.
R2.2 · Pick 34 · T'Vondre Sweat · DT · rank 45
T'Vondre Sweat at pick 34 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R2.9 · Pick 41 · Jonathon Brooks · RB · rank 48
They took Jonathon Brooks at par in the 41st pick, which is nothing to complain about. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R2.26 · Pick 58 · Junior Colson · LB · rank 52
They did well to land Junior Colson in Round 2, Pick 26, just ahead of his grade. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
R3.4 · Pick 68 · Zach Frazier · C · rank 62
Zach Frazier in pick No. 68 lands just on the right side of the ledger. The roster fit checks out.
R3.25 · Pick 88 · Jaden Hicks · S · rank 85
Nothing to complain about; Jaden Hicks went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
R3.28 · Pick 91 · Christian Haynes · OG · rank 65
You do not let an offensive lineman like Christian Haynes reach pick 91 and blink. They did not. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R4.26 · Pick 126 · Jarrian Jones · CB · rank 136
They paid up for Jarrian Jones at Round 4, Pick 26 when waiting would have done the job. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R5.30 · Pick 166 · Marist Liufau · LB · rank 166
A straight-up fair deal on Marist Liufau at No. 166, value and slot in agreement. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
R5.33 · Pick 169 · Dwight McGlothern · CB · rank 161
Dwight McGlothern at slot 169 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R6.27 · Pick 202 · Joe Milton III · QB · rank 200
No drama and no debate, Joe Milton III went about where he belonged in the 202nd overall pick. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R6.44 · Pick 219 · Devin Culp · TE · rank 304
Devin Culp at the Round 6 slot is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R7.25 · Pick 245 · Kimani Vidal · RB · rank 253
Kimani Vidal at pick No. 245 is a conviction pick that outran the value. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R7.35 · Pick 255 · Bub Means · WR · rank 245
They let Bub Means come to them and pounced at the 255th pick. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
