When the story of this class is written, it opens with Trevin Wallace at slot 202, a reach of 31 spots that the board flatly disagrees with.
They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it. If one pick saves this weekend, it is Milton III.
They went 4 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a ballhawk on the outside at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Cooper DeJean at Round 2, Pick 9 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
No edge and no loss on Payton Wilson in pick No. 58; it is a wash and a sensible one. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Trey Benson in slot 88 is fair value, right on his grade. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Dominick Puni in the 91st pick. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Beaux Limmer at the 126th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They reached into another round for Tanor Bortolini, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They talked themselves into Trevin Wallace at Round 6, Pick 27, and the board did not agree. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
Joe Milton III at No. 219 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Nice patience on Dominique Hampton, who had no business lasting to pick 245. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
A straight-up fair deal on Tyler Owens at slot 255, value and slot in agreement. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
