The Packers spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Brian Thomas Jr., the No. 52 name on the board, in the 88th overall pick. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. They are betting Wiggins proves the room right and everyone else wrong.

A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.19 · Pick 19 · Nate Wiggins · CB · rank 37
In No. 19 they get a potential shutdown corner, though the board says they badly overpaid. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
R2.8 · Pick 40 · Jordan Morgan · OT · rank 49
Jordan Morgan in pick No. 40 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R2.19 · Pick 51 · T.J. Tampa · CB · rank 43
T.J. Tampa at the 51st pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R3.19 · Pick 83 · Braelon Allen · RB · rank 99
They jumped the gun on Braelon Allen, taking him earlier than his grade liked. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R3.25 · Pick 88 · Brian Thomas Jr. · WR · rank 52
They barely believed it either: Brian Thomas Jr. still on the board at the 88th overall pick. A need, and now a little less of one.
R4.19 · Pick 119 · Junior Colson · LB · rank 120
They took Junior Colson at par in the Round 4 slot, which is nothing to complain about. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
R4.35 · Pick 135 · Mohamed Kamara · DL-EDGE · rank 131
Mohamed Kamara at slot 135 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the edge rusher. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R6.22 · Pick 197 · LaDarius Henderson · OT · rank 174
LaDarius Henderson at pick 197 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It fills a real need, too.
R6.42 · Pick 217 · Francisco Mauigoa · LB · rank 224
Francisco Mauigoa in slot 217 is fair value, right on his grade. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
R6.44 · Pick 219 · Duce Chestnut · CB · rank 206
They read the board right and Duce Chestnut was the payoff at pick 219. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R7.20 · Pick 240 · Jaylin Noel · WR · rank 214
Jaylin Noel in the Round 7 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
