Green Bay Packers

A solid, sensible weekend for the Packers: B.

Call it belief, call it a gut call, but Jack Westover at Round 6, Pick 44 is 101 spots clear of consensus, and that is the headline. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.

The Jones value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.

Pick-by-Pick

R2.9 · Pick 41 · Chris Braswell · LB-EDGE · rank 44
They took Chris Braswell at par in pick No. 41, which is nothing to complain about. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R2.26 · Pick 58 · T.J. Tampa · CB · rank 51
A clean, defensible pick in slot 58 with a little surplus value in T.J. Tampa. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R2.31 · Pick 63 · Edgerrin Cooper · LB · rank 49
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Edgerrin Cooper in the 63rd overall pick. It adds depth where they could use a little.
R3.33 · Pick 96 · Javon Baker · WR · rank 90
A reasonable price with a little left over, Javon Baker in the 96th pick. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R4.16 · Pick 116 · Trevor Keegan · OG · rank 144
Trevor Keegan at pick 116 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It fills a real need, too.
R4.24 · Pick 124 · Javon Foster · OT · rank 119
Javon Foster at No. 124 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R4.26 · Pick 126 · Isaiah Davis · RB · rank 156
Isaiah Davis in Round 4, Pick 26 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R5.33 · Pick 169 · Marcus Harris · DE-EDGE · rank 153
Marcus Harris is a better player than the 169th overall pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R6.27 · Pick 202 · Johnny Dixon · CB · rank 191
Johnny Dixon slid further than he should have, and the Round 6 slot is lovely value for the cornerback. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R6.44 · Pick 219 · Jack Westover · TE · rank 320
This one needs a full-page explanation: Jack Westover in pick 219, miles early. A need, and now a little less of one.
R7.25 · Pick 245 · Kalen DeLoach · S · rank 248
No edge and no loss on Kalen DeLoach in the 245th pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. A minor need, but a need all the same.
R7.35 · Pick 255 · Trente Jones · OT · rank 195
Trente Jones at slot 255 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
