Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint got past him. The Packers do not have to explain a thing at No. 243. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.
The cost of the Harrell reach is exactly the players who went right after him. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Troy Fautanu. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Ennis Rakestraw Jr. at the Round 2 slot nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
No edge and no loss on Max Melton in pick 58; it is a wash and a sensible one. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
No drama and no debate, Bucky Irving went about where he belonged in pick No. 88. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A premium they did not need to pay, Christian Mahogany a notch or two before his time. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Nothing to complain about; Luke McCaffrey went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It fills a real need, too.
The board had cheaper options than Jaylen Harrell at Round 6, Pick 29, and it noticed. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Josh Proctor in slot 216 is fair value, right on his grade. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Circle this one: Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint at the 243rd pick is a fall that decides a draft. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Josh Wallace at pick No. 256 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the cornerback. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
