The Packers did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Jay Higgins fell into slot 250. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.
If Bryant pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 27 they get a lockdown presence outside, outstanding value to boot. The biggest hole, addressed.
By-the-book stuff, Dylan Fairchild at the Round 2 slot squarely in line with his ranking. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Omarr Norman-Lott in pick 91. It fills a real need, too.
Elic Ayomanor in the 127th overall pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They talked themselves into Cobee Bryant at the 162nd pick, and the board did not agree. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A tight end of that caliber at pick No. 202 is the definition of value, full stop. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A top-tier linebacker at a bargain, Jay Higgins in slot 250, plain and simple. A minor need, but a need all the same.
