The Frank Crum pick is the one that will follow the Packers into the fall. They took him 39 spots ahead of his grade, and the board is not shy about saying so. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.
For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. On value alone, Ford makes the weekend a net positive.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 25th overall pick they get a potential shutdown corner. The biggest hole, addressed.
Jordan Morgan in pick No. 41 lands just on the right side of the ledger. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Ricky Pearsall in slot 58 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Calen Bullock at pick 88 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A minor itch, scratched.
They paid sticker price for MarShawn Lloyd in No. 91, and that is fine. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They reached a country mile for Tommy Eichenberg at the Round 4 slot, and the board is aghast. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
A premium they did not need to pay, Jordan Jefferson a notch or two before his time. The roster fit checks out.
A straight-up fair deal on Joe Milton III at the 202nd pick, value and slot in agreement. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Jaylan Ford is a better player than pick No. 219 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
A market-rate safety, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Josh Proctor. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Value said wait; Frank Crum in the 255th overall pick says they were not listening. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
