The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Packers watched Caedan Wallace slide 43 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. No fireworks, but a solid B.

They will need Harrell to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. They punted on cornerback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.

Job largely done: edge rusher settled and 4 of 8 of the wish list covered.

Good work on the whole, with cornerback the one box left unchecked.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.28 · Pick 28 · Joe Alt · OT · rank 4
In No. 28 they get protection for the quarterback, outstanding value to boot.
R2.9 · Pick 41 · Tyler Nubin · S · rank 40
No edge and no loss on Tyler Nubin in slot 41; it is a wash and a sensible one. A minor need, but a need all the same.
R2.26 · Pick 58 · Bralen Trice · DE-EDGE · rank 63
They paid sticker price for Bralen Trice in the 58th overall pick, and that is fine. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R3.25 · Pick 88 · Jaylen Wright · RB · rank 71
They read the board right and Jaylen Wright was the payoff at the 88th pick. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R4.26 · Pick 126 · Dylan Laube · RB · rank 157
They reached into another round for Dylan Laube, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R5.15 · Pick 151 · Luke McCaffrey · WR · rank 149
Luke McCaffrey at pick No. 151 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R5.33 · Pick 169 · Jaylen Harrell · DE-EDGE · rank 207
They reached a country mile for Jaylen Harrell at Round 5, Pick 33, and the board is aghast. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R6.27 · Pick 202 · Malik Mustapha · S · rank 170
They will replay Malik Mustapha at pick 202 for years; that is how good the value is. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
R6.44 · Pick 219 · Cornelius Johnson · WR · rank 186
Somehow Cornelius Johnson was still sitting there in Round 6, Pick 44, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. A need, and now a little less of one.
R7.25 · Pick 245 · Tylan Grable · OT · rank 232
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Tylan Grable in No. 245. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R7.35 · Pick 255 · Caedan Wallace · OT · rank 212
Taking Caedan Wallace in slot 255 is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
